Sculptural Gothic Fashion
Michael Lau is an artist in Hong Kong and he is known for his toy design and illustration. He is a painter, an artist and a fashion designer as well. “The mummy returns meets Halloween” chic collection is Michael Lau's fashion designs and it is an example of sculptural gothic fashion.

I like how Michael Lau uses pale, neutral colours to present Gothic fashion rather than using dark colours. Also, I really like the way how on the first photo there are many faces on the costume and it looks like there are many faces coming out from the body which creates a more dramatic and artistic piece of work. The surface of the costumes are embellished with texture to create innovative couture works. The collections shows a feminine and elegant designs, although it looks quite scary. This collection inspires my Claudia character. The way the first and the second photo reminds me of harlequin masks and the different faces inspire me that I could create two different side make-up on my Claudia's character to show her inner struggle and personalities. It also links to the key word that I've chosen for Claudia, 'face' as Michael Lau uses face mask on his designs.
