Adjusting hair, hand and face charts (Miss Havisham final design)

On above are my hair chart, hand chart and also face chart. I have added more details on the charts so to give more informations and it will help me to create a more accurate Miss Havisham's look for the continuity assessment. I have adjusted the drawings on my hair chart as before the bun that I've drawn was too high and also it will not be seen at the front. So I have corrected it so you can see on the front view, you can't see the bun at the front.

Miss Havisham's final assessment 1

On below are the photos taken on the first assessment day of my final Miss Havisham design.
Model : Lilianna Jaroszewska

On my final design of Miss Havisham, there isn't any red nails on my design. I have asked my partner to remove the red nails the day before the assessment, but she said she can't as it stays on for a few weeks. So for the second assessment, I will make sure the red nails were there as well as to create the same look for the continuity assessment.

On above is a happy Miss Havisham ^^

    3) Tie the back of the hair into a ponytail with a hair bobble and then plait the hair and roll it into a bun shape and secure the hair with hair pins.
    4)For the front part of the hair, remember do not plait the hair from too high as you want to leave the top part sleek and tidy first. Plait the hair and extend it to the back and roll into the bun. After that, secure it with the hair pins. Do the same on the other side.
    5) Make the hair messy and let strands of hair coming out from the hair. Remember to mess the plaits and the bun as well.
    6)Put five flowers on the side of the bun
    7) Spray the hair with dry shampoo and put baby powder as well.
    8) Fold 1/3 of the veil and attach it onto the top part of the hair with bobby pins.
Practice in lesson:
I'm pleased with the results of the final look of Miss Havisham and I think it is better than last time as the wrinkles looks more fine and make the look more realistic. In order to improve next time, I need to roll and make the bun at the back more flat and also put more dry shampoo at the back of the hair.  For the makeup, the dry skin near the eyes need to be higher because it needs to match the face chart. Also, for the hand makeup, I think the colour of the scratches need to be more so it will be seen more clearly on the camera.

What is Continuity? Why is it important in TV & Film Industry?

My understanding of the word 'Continuity' means repeating and doing a specific thing again and again. For this project, we are doing a continuity assessment which we need to create our final design twice in different days as to show we can create the same look. Continuity is very important in TV & Film industry because if people want to recreate other's design, they will need to follow the instructions and steps of how to create the look. Also, for example, if a makeup artist need to create the same look every single day or the actors are doing the same scene in different days, the makeup artist need to do exactly the same look, otherwise, the style of the actors will look different on the scene. So it is very important for makeup artist or stylist to create face chart, hair chart and notes to mark down the details and the steps of how to create the look.

"Each designer will have their own method for recording notes, but it is paramount to have a system. There is always a possibility of the unexpected emergency when someone take over another's work. An intelligible and well organized system will pay dividends. The details kept should contain:
  • the artist's name;
  • the name of the character portrayed;
  • the episode, if applicable;
  • the day involved, e.g. Day 1, Day 4, etc.;
  • the detailed notes of work done or clothes worn. It is important for any hair ornaments used to be recorded and kept safe;
  • any photographs taken can be stapled to these notes. " (Jan Musgrove, 2003)
For this assessment, I have done face chart, hair chart, hand design and also step by step notes with photos which helps me to recreate the look successfully and being more specific.

mixture to the whole face, neck and hands.

create fine red veins on the cheeks and for the hands, create scratches.

In order to improve next time, I should do the dark eye circles more darker as on my face chart, it looks more bold. I'm pleased with the final results of the look and I think it definitely looks better than the practice I've done on myself last time. Also, I think next time, I can draw the wrinkles on the neck bolder and also the red pinky colour more so they will be seen more clearly.

For the old age stipple, I don't like how there are colour difference after apply to the skin and I can't use the foundation base to cover the edges. So I have decided to adjust the design to sort out the problems. But for the hands, I'm going to do the same and use the old age stipple. But next time, I will put more on the hands and apply it to a larger area, as you can see a bit of colour difference and the edges. Also, I'm going to apply a few more layer more, so the wrinkle will be seen more clearly.
