Curls were more loosed as the century progressed. Hair become looser as to create a sweeter and softer look. The curls on the side of the face disappear and the hair were pinned back. But on the side, the hair look smooth while the curls were gathered at the back of the hair. Some long ringlets were sometimes left at the bottom of the hair on the back to create a sweeter look.

This is my favourite hairstyle from the TV serial 'The way we live now' and the reason I choose this is because I like how there were plaits roll around the head and some curls were pinned in the middle. I also like the way there was a ornament in the middle and it makes the hairstyle more elegant and delicate.
