The Discipline of Fashion

'The Discipline of Fashion' is the title and the theme of the Vogue Italia cover on September 2011. The shoot is taken by the photographer, Steve Meisel, makeup is done by Paul Mcgrath and hairstyle by Guido. Stella Tennant is the model for the shoot and this photo shoot reminds me of the Victorian and also the Gothic style.

The way Stella Tennant wearing a black outfit, dark eye shadow and lips reminds me of the Gothic style as the use of dark hues colour. It also reminds me of the Victorians because you can see the tiny waist she has got and in here, she wore corset as well. I found the atmosphere of the shoot quite creepy and uncanny as Tennant was holding a scissor.

The use of black and white photographs add more mystery, grotesque effects and I found the pose quite unusual and creepy as well.

On the three photos above, you can see clearly the tiny waist and the corset is being used. The hairstyle reminds me of the Victorian hairstyle as well because the use of plaits roll into a bun at the back and also center parting is used. The side of the hair reminds me of the mid to late Victorian hairstyle as it looks sleek and tidy on the side.

I found the two photos from above very interesting as the stylist put the corset on the neck and hand. On the first photo, you can still see the marks on the hands made by the tightness of the corset and I think this photoshoot definitely looks Avant-garde because of how innovative the work are.
