Symbolism of nature species in Victorian era

Victorians liked to use nature inspired design for fashion and home as they think nature symbolized good luck. Butterflies, dragonflies, birds, flowers, etc, were often used on their designs. With the ideas of using nature species on their design, they combined romance and whimsy with it as well. The influx of trade with japan during 1870's make a huge influenced to the Victorians for nature in art.

Butterflies:
Butterflies symbolizes freedom, immortality the soul, spiritual growth and transformation. You can see a lot of ornaments in Victorian era, butterflies were being used on it.

Dragonflies:
Dragonflies symbolized courage, strength, transformation and also prosperity.

Birds represent the soul and freedom. They believe the sparrow will lead you home when you get lost and it is a guide that leads your way along the path of life.

Acorn symbolizes growth, luck and also prosperity. Victorians believed acorn represents stability and youthfulness strength.
