'Abstract Sculpture Galore'

In lesson, we need choose a fashion catwalk show look and recreate the makeup look. The reason I choose Comme des Garcons 2014 Spring/Summer Paris fashion week look is because the black smudged lips and the sculptured hair design catches my eye. I like the way the makeup focused on the smudged black lips and the glowing pale skin while leaving the eye neutral which creates an extreme visual effects and contrast. Julien d'Ys is the make-up artist and the hairstylist for this fashion catwalk show and on below he explained how his concept came out.
"The hair concept for the SS14 Comme des Garçons show came to me while I was working on a shoot last year that was inspired by birds’ and bees’ nests. It led me to think about trees – and, in turn, the tree of life. When Rei told me she wanted every model to have a different hairstyle, I thought the idea would work well. There was no real plan behind each look, I just let my imagination run away with me on the day."
Julien d'Ys uses black fabric and wrap around painted hair to create the idea of combining sculpture and beauty together. I like the ideas of how different models have different hairstyles and my favourite look is the last photo one where the black fabric wrap around the hair creating a cross shape.

In order to improve, I should smudge the black lips more so it will look more natural. Also, I can make it more bolder and smudge more black colour around the lips. I like the eye makeup and the luminous skin that I've done on my partner in this lesson.
